Winter 2025

Dear Friends,

Perspective by Michael Van Valkenburgh Associates

I hope you are doing very well and found time to enjoy our extended fall colors!

Thank you for your interest in and support of our local natural treasures. With help from the Arboretum Park Conservancy (APC), the Arboretum is undertaking exciting improvements in 2025 to the Washington Street entrance. We need your continued support to bring other exciting projects to completion.

APC is proud to have contributed funds for a new pollinator meadow, a seating area in a Poplar Grove and a new interpretive sign at the Washington Street entrance. Project goals include increasing visibility from the forest hills MBTA Station by removing the chain link fence and creating clear views into the Bussey Brook Meadow.

On the other end of the Blackwell Path, the Boston Parks and Recreation Department has constructed an extension to a new entrance at the end of Arboretum Road. The Boston Public Works Department has constructed new tree lined sidewalks leading to this new entrance. The path and entrance will be open to the public next spring.

Through these initiatives and in collaboration with the Arboretum and our municipal and community partners, we are increasing visitorship and bringing the natural world closer to home for Bostonians.

The APC’s advocacy for this work has lead to these accomplishments. We hope we can depend on your support to further other objectives such as constructing a universally accessible canopy walk in the Bussey Brook Meadow and a new entrance that will connect Meadow visitors on the Blackwell Path to Peters Hill.

All the best,
